From May to December 2023, table grape exports from the Ica region totaled 104 million 405,632 kilos, showing an increase of 298.5%, compared to the 26 million 198,468 kilos, registered in the same period of the previous year. .
This growth is due to the fact that the high temperatures recorded on the Peruvian coast brought forward the table grape campaign in that region, which is the main producer and exporter of this fruit in the country, so the result will be important to know the behavior of table grape exports nationwide, reported Agraria.pe
Regarding the grape campaign on the north coast in Piura and Lambayeque, which has already ended, it was reported that it has been reduced by the high temperatures recorded, affecting its production and export; However, the Ica campaign—whose peak occurs in December and January—would allow this contraction to be counteracted.
From May 1 to December 18 of this year, shipments from Piura amounted to 162 million 593,860 kilos, which showed a reduction of -9.84%, versus the 180 million 336,301 kilos sent in the similar period of 2022. While that Lambayeque reached 21 million 954,964 kilos, observing a decrease of -14.36% compared to the 25 million 637,948 kilos shipped in the same period of the previous year.
